Cybercriminals target C-suite, family members with sophisticated attacks

According to a study issued on Monday by BlackCloak and Ponemon Institute, senior level corporate leaders are increasingly the subject of sophisticated cyberattacks that target their work and home office environments and even extend to family members. Over the past two years, a senior executive or a member of that executives family was targeted at almost 42% of the organisations polled.

Based on a poll of more than 550 IT security leaders, the study was conducted. Sensitive corporate data, such as financial information, intellectual property, or other data, is frequently stolen as a result of these attacks. Hackers are accessing these executives in one-third of these cases via unsecured home-office networks used for remote work.
