Gamers are fixing a video game ‘taken over’ by hackers

A well-known first-person shooter game contains serious flaws that let hostile hackers hijack the machines of other gamers as long as they are participating in the same online battle. The problem is so bad that several streamers have pleaded with viewers not to play the game, declaring it to be “totally unplayable” as a result of hackers having “taken control.”

“I’ve been running across a lot of them, it’s been like virtually every single lobby,” one streamer remarked in a video from six months ago. Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has flaws that can be exploited. When playing the game, a hacker has a tool that can reveal your IP address, according to another streamer.
