Half-Billion Compromised Credentials Lurking on Open Cloud Server

Nearly 586 million sets of credentials have been collected in a compromised cloud storage facility. 226 million of those were new to the Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) database. Previously unseen passwords include flamingo228, Alexei2005, and 91177700. HIBP is an already comprehensive resource containing 613 million pwned passwords. According to Hunt, there are 5,579,399,834 occurrences of a compromised password represented in this corpus.

The FBI and NCA are now pipelining compromised passwords directly into the Hackers’ Internet Banking Protection Program (HIBP), he said.
