Half of Small Businesses Hit by Cyber-Attack Over the Past Year

Cybersecurity has emerged as a significant worry for small and medium-sized organizations (SMEs), with nearly half (48%) having encountered at least one cyber incident in the previous year. According to a new survey conducted by Sage, a provider of accounting and payroll software.



One of Sage’s customers, Roche Healthcare, is one of the SMEs that has recently encountered such an occurrence. During a Sage event in London, Cindy Cleasby, a Roche spokesperson, revealed her experience: “Two months after we decided to change our data hosting servers, the provider we were working with, who was hosting the majority of our data, was hit by a cyber-attack.” They shut down the systems for six months, which meant we had to handle a lot of things manually, including bills."
