Manufacturing companies hit by ransomware had their data encrypted- Report

According to cybersecurity service provider Sophos, data has been successfully encrypted in 68%, or two-thirds, of ransomware assaults that have targeted the industrial industry. It is the greatest encryption rate for the industry over the last three years, according to The State of Ransomware in Manufacturing and Production 2023, and it is consistent with a more general cross-sector trend where attackers are more frequently successful in encrypting data.

However, in contrast to other industries, a greater majority of manufacturing organizations—73% of the manufacturing organisations examined this year compared to 58% last year—used backups to recover data. The industry still has one of the lowest rates of data recovery despite this growth.
