Microsoft fixes Acropalypse privacy bug in Windows 11 Snipping Tool

Microsoft is now developing a patch for the Windows 11 Snipping Tool that addresses the recently discovered “Acropalypse” privacy vulnerability, which permits the partial restoration of clipped photographs. Microsoft yesterday sent Windows 11 Snipping Tool version 11.2302.20.0 to Windows Insiders in the Canary channel via the Microsoft Store, as originally noted by Windows enthusiast Xeno.

BleepingComputer can confirm that Microsoft has patched the fault in this version of Windows 11 that prevents cropped image data from being removed when changes are saved to the original file. The flaw is still there in Windows 10, though.
