New TrafficStealer Malware Monetizes Network Traffic

Docker containers have been targeted by a special threat known as TrafficStealer, which makes money by monetizing web traffic and ad engagement. You may think of it as a weaponized variation of an actual traffic routing service. TrafficStealer allegedly employs a pre-built container image with traffic monetization characteristics, according to Trend Micro. All of this was accomplished by misusing the research agency’s honeypot.

Cybercriminals have historically targeted Docker containers in order to use their cloud-based computing capacity to execute cryptomining programmes or conduct reconnaissance assaults using Linux commands. This containerized software, however, does not offer any information regarding the traffic passing through the subscriber’s device.
