PDF Phishing Beyond the Bait

Attackers who use phishing attempt to trick people into divulging private information in order to obtain money, steal credentials, gain access to company networks, and distribute malware. This approach frequently uses social engineering techniques, which take advantage of psychological weaknesses in victims to coerce them into doing activities that compromise personal and organizational security and can have serious repercussions.In the past four months, McAfee Labs has seen an increase in the use of PDF documents to launch a series of phishing attacks.



The PDF files that were sent were attached to emails.Because PDFs are a widely accepted file type, attackers like to use them for phishing attacks. PDFs, which are frequently regarded as authentic documents, offer a flexible way to include harmful content, connections, or exploits.
