A ransomware attack on Synnovis, a pathology and diagnostic services provider and partnership between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospitals NHS Trust, and SYNLAB, severely impacted several major NHS hospitals in London. The attack on June 3 disrupted Synnovis IT systems, leading to cancellations and redirections of healthcare procedures, particularly affecting blood transfusions. An investigation with NHS experts is underway to assess and contain the impact. Emergency care remains available, and patients are advised to attend appointments unless informed otherwise. Synnovis has not disclosed details about the malware or potential data breaches.
