Thousands of Cloud Servers Targeted by the Mysterious Nevada Group


Security researchers have named a mysterious group of hackers as the Nevada Group, and they are fast launching assaults using encryption against small and medium-sized businesses in the United States and Europe. The attackers are aiming for a straightforward weakness in a short piece of code that is frequently present in cloud servers.

OVHcloud, a European cloud service provider, offers affordable hosting services to the majority of the targeted companies, which use VMware products. These VMware products, which were installed on bare-metal servers, lacked patches for many years.
