A recent international law enforcement operation, dubbed Operation Cronos, has led to four arrests and the shutdown of nine servers linked to the LockBit ransomware group. Among those arrested is a suspected LockBit developer in France and two affiliates in the U.K., along with an administrator of a bulletproof hosting service in Spain. Authorities also identified Aleksandr Ryzhenkov, a high-ranking member of the Evil Corp cybercrime group, as a LockBit affiliate, and imposed sanctions on several individuals and entities associated with the gang. The operation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle cybercriminal networks that exploit victims for financial gain, with significant links between these groups and Russian state actors. The U.S. Treasury emphasized continued collaboration with international partners to combat ransomware threats.
