A cybersecurity researcher is urging users to update Adobe Acrobat Reader after a fix was released for a critical remote code execution zero-day, CVE-2024-41869, caused by a "use after free" vulnerability that could allow malicious code execution when opening a specially crafted PDF. Discovered by Haifei Li using the EXPMON platform in June, the flaw persisted despite an earlier patch in August but has now been fully addressed in the latest update. A proof-of-concept exploit had been publicly available, and further technical details will be shared soon by EXPMON and Check Point Research.
