Europol has disrupted the pro-Russian hacktivist group NoName057(16), responsible for numerous DDoS attacks on Ukraine and allied nations. Operation Eastwood, conducted between July 14–17 with multiple international agencies, led to the takedown of over 100 systems, two arrests in France and Spain, and arrest warrants for six Russian nationals. The group, active since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, used a program called DDoSia to mobilize supporters through Telegram, incentivizing them with cryptocurrency and gamified rewards. Europol also warned over 1,000 users of their criminal liability for participating in the attacks.
