Several U.K. councils, including Middlesbrough, Salford, Bury, and Trafford, recently faced disruptions due to distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, with the pro-Russian hacker group NoName057(16) claiming responsibility for some incidents. These attacks, seen as retaliation against the U.K.'s support for Ukraine, temporarily took down council websites and prompted responses from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which provided guidance. Middlesbrough Council experienced two attacks in one week, although no data was compromised, and the website was taken offline briefly for testing.
