Google Chrome extension used to steal cryptocurrency, passwords

In order to steal cryptocurrencies and clipboard contents as users browse the web, Windows malware is using the “VenomSoftX” browser plugin for Google Chrome.

The JavaScript-based RAT (remote access trojan) and cryptocurrency hijacker known as ViperSoftX Windows malware is responsible for installing this Chrome extension. Security researchers Cerberus and Colin Cowie as well as Fortinet earlier revealed the existence of ViperSoftX, which has been around since 2020.
