Google launches new Safety Charter in India to fight scams, boost cybersecurity, and build responsible AI


Google has launched a new Safety Charter in India to combat rising digital threats, enhance cybersecurity, and promote responsible AI development. Announced at the “Safer with Google India” summit, the initiative includes programs like Digikavach to block high-risk app downloads, scam alerts via Google Pay, and AI-driven detection of phishing and impersonation threats. With tools like SynthID for watermarking AI-generated content and IndicGenBench to ensure AI inclusivity across 29 Indic languages, Google is also strengthening infrastructure security through collaborations with IIT-Madras and a $20M cybersecurity fund. Emphasizing shared responsibility, Google is working closely with Indian government bodies to build trust in the country’s digital future.
