Rackspace Confirms Ransomware Attack as It Tries to Determine If Data Was Stolen


After being compelled to shut down its Hosted Exchange environment, cloud computing business Rackspace acknowledged becoming the subject of a ransomware attack. Tuesday morning, the business acknowledged that the disruption was caused by suspicious behaviour that was indeed a ransomware attack.

On Friday, December 2, issues began to arise with Rackspace’s hosted Microsoft Exchange service. The affected environment was shut down, and the corporation acknowledged on Saturday that a security incident had occurred.
