Gmail's New Shielded Email Feature Lets Users Create Aliases for Email Privacy


Google is reportedly developing a feature called Shielded Email, enabling users to create single-use email aliases for signing up for online services, reducing spam and protecting privacy. Similar to Apple’s Hide My Email and offerings from Bitwarden and DuckDuckGo, Shielded Email forwards messages from aliases to the user’s primary account without revealing their real address. This follows Google’s previous introduction of virtual card numbers for secure payments and the release of Android System Key Verifier, an app that enhances security by verifying end-to-end encryption keys and ensuring secure communication.
