Cybersecurity culture improves despite the dark clouds of the past year

According to ClubCISO and Telstra Purple, 76% of CISOs indicated that no material breaches had occurred and 60% stated that no material cybersecurity incident had occurred in the previous 12 months, despite the hardening economic environment, increased international tensions, and the introduction of new technology that makes cybercrime easier.

Given that CISOs on average evaluated their organization’s overall security posture lower than they did over the previous year, this apparent success of security teams is particularly intriguing. Although not directly connected, the difference between declining material breaches and incidents and overall security postures may be somewhat explained by the favourable cultural changes that CISO have noticed.
