New proxy malware targets Mac users through pirated software

A new proxy trojan infection that is packed with well-known, copyrighted macOS software and sold on pirate websites is being used by cybercriminals to attack Mac users.x000D When computers are infected with proxy trojan virus, they become traffic-forwarding hubs for nefarious or unlawful operations including phishing, hacking, and the purchase of illegal items.


Massive botnets have been created by the profitable industry of selling access to proxies, and Mac devices are not exempt from this pervasive behavior.


Kaspersky discovered that 35 programs for image editing, video editing and compression, data recovery, and network scanning were infected with a proxy trojan to trick people into downloading paid software for free.
