Critical OpenEMR vulnerabilities may allow attackers to access patients’ health records

On a server hosting a susceptible version of the well-known open-source electronic health record system, critical vulnerabilities found in OpenEMR can be chained to execute code. Globally, “more than 100,000 healthcare practitioners servicing more than 200 million patients” utilize the electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system known as OpenEMR. The charity OpenEMR Foundation funds the open-source OpenEMR project, which is backed by a large number of experts and volunteers. “A world where every health care professional has access to high-quality health care information technology” is the motto of the OpenEMR Foundation.
