Vixen Panda APT Group suspected of targeting foreign ministry in cyberattack

In a recent cyberattack, the Foreign Ministry is thought to have been the target of the Chinese hacking group Vixen Panda. According to a recent Euractiv report, the hackers expressed a strong interest in policy documents. Hackers targeted two servers that were in communication with servers belonging to foreign ministries in different European nations.

A ministry spokeswoman had said last week that a third country was responsible for the attack on foreign ministries in numerous other countries. Although Bogar was unable to establish the claimed Chinese involvement, the incident is still being looked into. The Ministry’s IT infrastructure was promptly shut down following the attack, but cleanup is still ongoing.
