The European Union has adopted two new cybersecurity laws to enhance protection and security standards across member states. The first establishes a European Cybersecurity Alert System with AI-powered cross-border cyber hubs for coordinated threat detection and a Cybersecurity Emergency Mechanism to aid preparedness, response, and recovery from major attacks. It also includes a cybersecurity reserve for mutual technical assistance. The second law amends the 2019 Cybersecurity Act to introduce certification schemes for managed security services, ensuring higher standards and fostering trusted providers while reducing market fragmentation. Both laws will take effect 20 days after publication.
