Vaultree open-sources its technology for computation on encrypted data

Vaultree Ltd., a data encryption startup, has open-sourced elements of its technology stack that enable operations on encrypted data without decryption, addressing the scalability issues of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). Vaultree’s approach, protected by 27 patents, features a unified key structure that maintains constant ciphertext size and execution time, making encrypted computations only 10-15% slower than plaintext, a significant improvement over traditional FHE. Its VENum technology includes Python libraries for secure machine learning and data processing, supporting various formats like images and time-series data, and integrating with key management systems. The company aims to foster transparency and innovation in encryption while continuing to refine its tools based on community feedback.
